Readings in Contemporary Media and Literature for self-study and classroom use

Yang Tersirat dan Yang Tersurat, developed by Prof. U. Kozok*, is aimed for speakers with at least intermediate proficiency in Indonesian.

The course will familiarise students with the language of the media as employed in the contemporary Indonesian press and promoting the development of strong reading, writing, and also listening  skills at both colloquial and formal levels.

The objectives of this course are to progress linguistically, as well as to develop an awareness of the contemporary social context; there will be an even balance between language and content.The e-course will enable participating students to advance their proficiency in Indonesian towards a truly advanced level.

For students resident in Oahu, we offer this course as a hybrid course in conjunction with the conversation courses IND307 and IND308.

You can use this material either by

  • Enrolling in IND 305 (Start Date: 22 August 2011) or IND 306 (Start Date: 9 January 2011). There is a small tuition fee, but you will get all the benefits of being enrolled in a university course: you get official credit, you will be supervised by a professional instructor, there will be weekly homework assignments and quizzes, and you will be part of a larger online learner community where you will communicate with your fellow classmates and your tutor, mainly in Indonesian, through a discussion forum.
